Lots of excellent restaurants are nearby and the famous Constantia Wine Route with eleven first-class wine estates starts just around the corner of our Cottage Sauvignon!
Constantia Valley is the birthplace of the wine farming industry in South Africa. The first Governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel, chose this situation for his farm, Groot Constantia. Four of the only five bigger farms that remain in the Constantia Valley today were part of that original portion of prime land which was granted to him.
World-class wines are being produced along the Constantia Wine Route and accoladed for it's escalating quality. Visitors can taste the fine wines and experience a unique journey through each of the nine farms, which also hold top-class South African Restaurants, namely; Bistro 1682 at Steenberg Wine Estate, La Colombe at Silvermist Estate, Buitenverwachting Restaurant and Chef's Warehouse at Beau Constantia Wine Estate.
Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachting, Constantia Uitsig, and Steenberg farms are all within a few minutes drive of each other, and all offer wine tasting and purchasing, In Upper Constantia on the road to Hout Bay are the upcoming wine producers of the region located, the smaller but more exclusive wine cellars of Beau Constance, High Constantia, Constantia Glen, Eagles Nest, and Silvermist. Lovers of fine wine will enjoy spending a day on this wine route.
This holiday home offers an open-plan layout from the kitchen into the dining space and lounge. Glass sliding doors on either side of the dining room and lounge create the ideal connection between the front garden with a swimming pool and the back garden. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
1. Parties and Receptions
No parties or receptions are permitted on the property. The house is located in a quiet residential area with mostly single-family homes. Only the people booked in are allowed on the property. No outside guests! No loud music!
2. Smoking on the premises
Smoking is strictly forbidden in the building. We do allow smoking outside in the garden, but we ask you not to flick the ash or cigarette butts around. We can provide you with a wind-protected ashtray that should then only be emptied into the rubbish bin outside the buildings.
3. Use of the swimming pool and garden
The swimming pool can be used between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm daily. The cleaning tool (our robot called "henry") cannot be removed from the pool and can't be taken apart or stood upon. Please help us save the valuable water and don't take it out of the pool unnecessarily by excessive jumping in and out of the pool or splashing about.
4. Parking
Parking bays are allocated to units as follows:
Courtyard on the right --> Cottage Chenin
Courtyard on the left (next to the small gate) --> Cottage Sauvignon
The guests are expressly asked to use the allocated parking only and to leave the car well positioned with enough space for the other guests' Car!
We ask our guests to lock their cars and to close all the windows even if they are parked in a garage. Under no circumstances should any valuables, handbags or articles of clothing be left in the car. This rule should apply whether the car is outside or inside a garage.
5. Rubbish
All rubbish should be put into the coloured bins which are situated within the courtyard.
We Do Recycling: Please place paper, plastics and glass/bottles separated from the other rubbish in the dedicated bin! Due to lack of space, we ask you to make the rubbish smaller or to fold or squash it up, e.g. empty plastic bottles or boxes. All bins are emptied every Friday. Organic rubbish should be put into plastic bags and not directly (loose) into the empty bins to avoid bad smells.
6. Barbeque (braai) and open fires
We provide our guests with a Weber grill. Charcoal is not necessarily available unless previous guests have left some behind. Firewood and wood as well as gas or charcoal is to be purchased by the guest (self-catering). Kindly don't grill too smoky – the other guests will be grateful not to end up smoking themselves. It goes without saying you have to be very careful with outside fires and that the grill and grill place should be left in exactly the same condition in which it was found.
7. Satellite / TV programmes
All our units are fitted with Smart Tvs linked directly to the Internet (to receive Channels in languages other than English). The Multichoice service "dstv is not available!
8. Guests of our guests
Overnight stays of friends of our guests are not allowed!
Receiving guests for a social meeting is in principle possible (max. 4 people), but it must be coordinated with us in advance and approved by us.
