Positive: We had the opportunity to stay at Elephant Walk Tented Camp in mid-September 2025, shortly after its planned opening on the 1st of September. We stayed for one night in two luxury tents. While some parts of the camp were still under construction and not yet fully operational, we would like to share our impressions based on the facilities we were able to use. The camp is beautifully situated on the Crocodile River, directly at the Crocodile Bridge Gate to Kruger National Park, which makes early morning game drives extremely convenient. The luxury tents were a highlight — modern, spacious, and very comfortable. Each tent was equipped with a king-size bed, a large bathroom and shower area, and a glass-door toilet. We also appreciated the large fridge and kettle for preparing tea or coffee. Although the pool area looked inviting, we didn’t use it due to ongoing construction nearby. The main guest area was also not yet completed, but we were still treated to a delicious dinner and a wonderful breakfast at the Elephant Walk Retreat (typically a self-catering location). The view over the river from there is absolutely stunning. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Stewart, who ensured we were well taken care of, and to Simon, who guided us on an unforgettable evening game drive in Kruger (included in the rate). We enjoyed the drive so much that, despite having already done 10 private game drives during our holiday, we booked an additional early morning drive for the following day — 45 minutes before the gate opened, allowing us to be first in the queue! Overall, despite the camp not being fully completed during our stay, we had a very positive experience Some minor issues that we assume will be resolved soon as the camp finalizes its opening. We believe the camp has great potential and would gladly consider a return visit in the future once everything is fully operational.

Negative: Additional Notes & Suggestions * At the time of our visit, the camp was still in what they call a "soft opening" phase. Only 3 out of approximately 12 tents appeared to be ready, and we were the only guests staying there that night. * Some infrastructure elements were still missing — for example, pathway lighting had not yet been installed. Walking to the tents in the rain, on slippery sandy paths without lighting or assistance, was a bit of an adventure (though the camp is fenced and safe). * Tent maintenance/service may not yet be running at full capacity. While we were out on safari, no one came to close the tent flaps, so when rain started, the tent interior could be a bit exposed. * There was no signage at the entrance for Elephant Walk Tented Camp — we found it only by assuming it was part of Elephant Walk Retreat. A small additional sign and clearer communication would easily solve this.
