Positive: We loved the cottage. It was sparkling clean, crisp bedding, choccies next to every bed, marshmallows on the kitchen table, coffee, tea, sugar more than enough for our weekend away. With a fireplace in the lounge, a Weber braai on the stoep, a fire pit for a bonfire, and a proper wood braai, one is spoilt for choice. We relaxed in the peaceful atmosphere of the farm, and all our worries seemed far away.

Negative: The gravel road obviously was a test for a driver, but my husband handled it very well. If you don't travel gravel roads often, it is a bit daunting, and it's not so easy to run into town. I would definitely not drive the road in the dark, so dinner in town is out. But a romantic meal on the cottage stoep in the expansive dark on the farm, is probably the best deal of the day.
